According to the latest statistics from the Center for Disease Control And Prevention, about 9% of women suffer from a lack of iron, and this number is even higher in physically active women.
There are signs which suggest low iron that you should be aware of:
“The body uses iron to create hemoglobin, the substance in red blood cells that carry oxygen,” says Blair Morris, medical officer of the Vanderbilt Center for Integrative Health. When you don’t have enough healthy blood cells, you will start to feel exhausted.
2. Poor Concentration
The synthesis of the neurotransmitter can be modified for people with iron deficiency, leading to decreased functionality.
Besides low concentration of iron deficiency and altered synthesis of neurotransmitters can result in apathy towards everything and anything: to friends, family, work, etc.
4. Shortness of Breath
This can happen to you whether you are involved in any physical activity, or while resting, or while doing the most common activities, such as driving a car for example. Without enough iron, the body is starving for oxygen.
5. Pale Skin
Lately your face is very pale? This says that’s something wrong with you (unless you are pale thanks to your new make-up style). But this look can be caused by decreased number of red blood cells and reduced blood flow .
