Jack Andraka, a 15-year old teenager from Crownsville, Maryland, known as the Teen Prodigy of Pancreatic Cancer, invented a new method for detecting lethal cancer.
He started to work on this after the death of a close friend, caused by pancreatic cancer. This kind of cancer is the 4th leading cause of cancer-related deaths, because of its late detection.
He focused on the fact that the biggest problem was a lack of early detection tests, thus he came up with a test that can detect cancer in its earliest stage.
The test is 100% accurate, costs 3 cents and takes only 5 minutes using Wikipedia and Google, which are the 2 most used online resources.
The test is also 26.000 times cheaper, 168 times faster and 400 times more sensitive than the current standard of detection.
