As the watermelon itself is very tasty and useful, many people ignore or are simply unaware of how much watermelon seeds may be useful for their health. Most of the people, while eating watermelon remove and thrown the seeds. Those who don’t throw them are doing good to their digestion, but unfortunately that’s all they do.
Just the seeds, when passing through the digestive tract, remain intact and only help mechanically for a better digestion but most of their beneficial ingredients remains unused. Watermelon seeds contain dietary fiber that is essential for the normal function of the digestive tract, help in case of intestinal parasites, as well as in the treatment of patients with jaundice, dropsy and some inflammation.
Seeds of watermelon contains citrulline, a substance that acts as an antioxidant, promotes dilation of blood vessels and positive effect in the case of atherosclerosis, hypertension, angina and erectile dysfunction in men.
Even the famous Edgar Cayce, the father of holistic medicine, by the early twentieth century said that the watermelon seeds contain healthy ingredient particularly useful for the treatment of kidney and bladder. According to Cayce, this tea made from fresh watermelon seeds is a great diuretic and it’s recommended for removal of kidney stones and pedestrians, as well as cleaning the bladder, kidneys and the urinary tract.
Cayce recommends the following recipe: Use 4 tablespoons of fresh watermelon seeds that are crushed or grinded and cook for 15 minutes in 2 liters of water. This amount should be stored and drink during the two days and the third day you make a break. The process thus continues for several weeks at the same intervals: using two days with a one day break.
