This vegan, Easy-to-Make Recipe is so tasty, that you’ll wanna use it hot or cold, with salad, bread, pasta… Try this mushroom sauce and you’ll thank me later 🙂
- 1 package of mushrooms (about 500 grams)
- 1 bulb of onion (medium-sized, but you can use spring onions)
- 1 cup of tomato puree (tomato sauce) or 2 fresh tomatoes
- Some olive oil
- Salt, pepper, basil (you can use dried basil or parsley too)
Cut the onion in small pieces and then briefly fry it in a little olive oil. Add the whole mushrooms (when you’re buying the mushrooms, see that you’ll get the smallest, but if they don’t have small, you can cut the big ones in 2 or 3 pieces), stir well and pour the tomato puree. If you’re using fresh tomatoes, peel them and chop them in cubes. Add spices and simmer until the mushrooms soften (takes approximately 15 minutes on medium heat).
Serve it hot on slices of whole grain bread as a sandwich, like a sauce for pasta, or cold with a green salad.
