We have all heard that breakfast is the most important meal of our day. But, some studies have started to question the universal advice that everybody should eat breakfast.
Here are a couple of things about breakfast, and if skipping it is going to make you fat and harm your health.
1. Breakfast eaters tend to have healthier habits
Many studies show that those who eat breakfast are more likely to be healthier. But, these studies cannot prove that the breakfast itself is responsible for this. There are chances that those who eat breakfast also have different healthy lifestyle habits. For example, those who eat breakfast, have a healthier diet. On the contrary, those who skip breakfast tend to drink more alcohol, smoke more and exercise less. So, perhaps these are the reasons why those who eat breakfast are healthier, and this has nothing to do with breakfast itself.
Conclusion: People who eat breakfast tend to be healthier than those who skip breakfast. This may be due to the fact that those who eat breakfast have different healthy lifestyle habits.
2. Eating breakfast does not boost your metabolism
It is a myth that eating breakfast “jump-starts” the metabolism. What matters to the metabolism is the overall amount of food which we consume throughout the day. Some studies show that there is no distinction in calories burned over 24 hours between people who skip or eat breakfast.
Conclusion: It does not matter if you eat or skip breakfast, this will not affect the amount of calories you burn during the day. This is a myth.
